I graduated with MSc in Electrical Engineering and I run RK-SYSTEM, a company dealing with electronics and IT systems, which means that on a daily basis I operate within quite a scientific environment.
When I was 14, while at primary school, I studied piano and together with the rest of my class, I had 11 fail marks in that subject. The reason behind this was that the school had only one piano for all the students, and as a result, we weren’t presented with many learning opportunities. Another instrument which featured in our music class was the guitar. In view of the danger of failing this class at the end of the semester, my parents decided to buy a guitar for me as it is much smaller than a piano. Attempting to fit a piano inside a conventional apartment in a block of flats would definitely prove quite problematic.
Such were my beginnings with the guitar which later accompanied me throughout my entire primary and secondary schools. Later on, studies at the electronics department and then work interrupted my musical hobby…
It was 2007 when my friend Piotr returned from Cuba with some excellent Cuban cigars. I was invited to try them and during our conversation in a small circle of friends, with Cuban aromas filling the air, in the background I heard wonderful guitar music and an astonishing singing voice. I asked Piotr about the author of this piece and he answered me with a smile: you must be musically illiterate, this is the best piece by Hendrix ‘Little Wing’.
After thinking for a while, I said that I may be musically illiterate, however, my good musical taste may not be questioned as this song is so highly regarded. This song has made my musical imagination know no bounds. After years of not holding a guitar in my hands, I decided to return to my forgotten passion. Due to quite a long interval in my playing, I surmised that Jimmy’s playing technique will certainly accelerate my learning process with a guitar teacher. After 8 months of meetings and practicing complex guitar riffs I started to write my own numbers, translating my own feelings using sounds.
This time, it was again a chance encounter which had an impact on my musical story. One of my employees approached me to enquire about the possibility of renting a room inside the premises of my company in order to play drums. My eyes immediately lit with excitement. I asked if his friend plays conga drums. He said yes. To that I said that if he plays well, I would rent the room to him free of charge but in return I would like to play with him from time to time. Consequently, I was contacted by Maciek Szyszkowski, which in addition to playing drums also played a mouth organ well. After a week I suggested to him that we should make a record together as my head was bursting with ideas. And this is how in 2008, ‘Młodszy brat Bongosa’ (Bongos’ Younger Brother) came to life. On the completion of this record, Maciek unfortunately had to move from Grodzisk to Lublin which has significantly limited our opportunities to meet and play together. I decided to invite other local musicians to join my project. After my first record, I recorded a total of seven records in 2 years, while playing with many different professional musicians. I was making records and issuing them independently. They were distributed amongst friends and clients of my firm - we used them as promotional items and added them to electronic products which we manufacture.
Within these two years, a great number of musicians visited my recording studio. I recorded my musical projects with musicians such as David Saucedo Valle, Sean Pom Palmer and Michał Borowski.
If my musical story has inspired you sufficiently to contact me, do not waste any more time and send me a line.
